Privacy policy
The short version: there is no account, no sign-in, no ads, no third-party SDKs and no trackers. The app needs to know one thing about you — which Winnipeg address you want the schedule for — and that stays on your phone.
What the app sends to our server
Address lookups
When you type an address, the search text is sent to our server to find matches in the City's list of serviced addresses. After you pick one, the app sends the City's numeric address id to fetch the collection schedule, plow zone and parking-ban status. Nothing else about you is attached to those requests. The server does not store them, and request logging is disabled, so no record of which address was looked up is kept.
Anonymous usage statistics
To see how the app is used, it generates a random install identifier the first time it runs. This identifier is made by the app itself; it is not derived from your device, your Apple or Google account, your phone number or anything else about you. Along with it the app sends:
- the app version and build number,
- the platform (iOS or Android) and operating-system version,
- event names such as app opened, tab viewed, reminders turned on/off, refresh and error.
It never sends your address, your location, your contacts or the contents of any notification. You can turn usage statistics off at any time in the app's settings; when off, nothing is sent.
These statistics are kept on a server operated by the developer in Canada, are used only to understand how the app is used and to fix problems, and are never sold or shared.
What stays on your phone
Your chosen address and your reminder preferences are stored only on the device. Reminders are local notifications scheduled by the app on your phone — there are no push notifications and no push tokens, and they work with no connection at all.
Where the data comes from
Collection days, plow zones, clearing status and parking bans come from City of Winnipeg open data under the Open Government Licence – Winnipeg. Exact per-address collection dates, including holiday shifts, come from the City's public collection calendar for that address.
Children
The app is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone.
Changes and contact
